In layman's terms, it's a page with 500 semi-random words that can be purchased to link to the site of your choosing (within terms).
These words are popular search terms and common English words, gathered from a variety of resources and databases. We have left out pronouns on purpose. There may be a couple common brand names, simply because they are products people search for and words people may want to buy to promote their related website. However, we do not endorse any brand or site linked to from this site.

Where did the idea come from?

It wouldn't be fair for us to say we came up with the concept completely on our own. There's nothing truly original on the Internet anymore.
We all borrow ideas and concepts, and those of us that do our job correctly create a new idea from an existing one. We hope we've managed to do just that. The inspiration for the 500 Word Page came from a variety of sources, but most prominently the MillionDollarHomePage and the 1000-Word-Page.

What's different about the 500 Word Page?

Though the concept is similar to other sites, we have made significant changes and improvements to the design and features. For instance, we have a Featured Word at the top of the main page, which is simply a random word from the site. This is beneficial to those who have purchased words, because they have a chance that their word will not only be displayed in the main word list, but also in the Featured Word box, bringing additional traffic to their website at no extra charge. We've also added a Search box on the main page so that viewers can search for a specific word, and if it doesn't exist on the page they can find out how to suggest a word. This increases the likelihood that someone will click your purchased word, because they will find it much easier. We have also changed the design of purchased words, so they stand out more. For example, if you purchase the Platinum word, you will jump out on the page with a 20pt bold red word, and more people will click through to your site. Perhaps the biggest difference with the 500 Word Page is that once you purchase a word to link, you're not stuck with the link. Each word style's link and description can be changed a certain number of times (depending on which style you purchase...see the FAQ for details), so if you want to promote a different site, you don't have to purchase a new word (unless you want to). You can also upgrade your word to another style for up to 50% off the original price.

What sets us apart from similar sites is our 24 and 48 hour grace periods. We know everyone makes a wrong decision from time to time. The last thing we want is for you to feel stuck with something. So we have our 24 hour and our 48 hour grace periods. If within 48 hours of your purchase you realize you chose the wrong word, we will give you a one-time courtesy word change. Just use our contact form to request an alternate word. If within 24 hours of your purchase you change your mind and decide you don't want to own a word on this site, and you want to forfeit all the traffic you can receive, contact us to cancel your order and we will promptly refund you. What's in the future?

Well, not even we can see the future. But we do have some plans for the site which will add great value to your words and your pocket book. We will be adding an affiliate program in the coming month or so that will allow you to earn a commission on any word sales you refer. We will also be running some contests where you can win free words. We will also be adding a "Word of the Day" eZine. Each day, this eZine will offer a new word and possible promotional uses of that word. As a subscriber, from time to time you will receive offers to purchase the Word of the Day at a significant discount (assuming you're the first person to respond to the offer). We will also run contests exclusively for subscribers of the eZine. You won't want to miss out on these!

How much traffic will your word get?

Well, we can't predict that, because there are too many factors involved. It mostly depends on the word you choose, the link you choose, the word style you choose, etc. Obviously, the more premium the word style you purchase, the more your word will be noticed by site visitors. However, we are doing our part to bring significant traffic to the 500 Word Page. We are promoting the site through a variety of joint venture partnerships, blogs, articles, pay-per-click ads, in-house mailing lists and more.
